Product Description
Late 1800's Victorian pin. A small detailed baroque pin that is likely a collectible souvenir perhaps from a Grand Tour of Europe. The pin measures 1.5 inches across and has an open C clasp.
The pin's painting under glass is a hand-painted scene of a church. The colors are rich with tiny words Kloster Andechs at the bottom of the painting. Kloster is German for monastery and this one is known for it's Baroque church and it's brewery.
The Kloster Andechs was founded in the 1400's and sits on the top of the Holy Mountain (Heilige Berg). The original monastery burned in a fire from a lightening strike in 1669 and was rebuilt in 1675. The baroque interior was done in 1755 for it's tercentenary (300 year celebration). The brewery is still run by the holy fathers.
