Coro dates to 1901 with Emanuel Cohn and Gerald Rosenberg opening a shop in New York- the two men later named their company Coro, after the first two letters of their last names. They expanded with the work of their designer and salesman, Adolph Katz. In the 1920s Coro was the largest manufacturer of costume jewelry. Coro used many different marks- Coro, Coro Craft, Corocraft, Coro with the pegasus, Coro Supreme, Coro Elegant, Jewelcraft, Vendome, Splendor, and more. Coro ended operations in the United States in the late 1970's and continued producing jewelry in Canada until the mid 1990's.
